Listening to a podcast today about the way Netflix spends money, some times not so wisely I got the idea of talking a little bit more about the forgotten series. Not the ones that were a flop, or well not only a flop, but that the service or network haven't even said to us if the series is in fact cancelled. 2020 has been a very tough year for everyone and our favorite shows weren't inmune to COVID. But some shows might be using the pandemic as an excuse of why they're not coming back this year or why they haven't made an announcement yet. Sadly some of this shows are dead and they just don't know it yet.

Let's try and do this in alphabetical order.

American Princess (Lifetime). Last summer the network responsible from the amazing UnReal gave us this comedy about a Manhattan socialite that quits her real life to go and live like medieval times at a permanent fair, where they help her discover herself and for once work for food and shelter. The series as I'm writing this post I discover it was in fact cancel, don't even know when this happened. The series wasn't that bad, but it wasn't great either, but I thought it would be back for a second season at least.

Black Mirror (Netflix UK). It's been a little over a year since the release of season 5 of the hit British series. They made an interactive special and gave us no word about an upcoming season 6 for this show. This one started with a bang it's first two to three seasons, then it became less shocking by season four and five. Even with very short seasons, the last one of just three episodes, the writers seemed to have hit a block. We would have to wait and see if they even give us a cancellation announcement for this show, or if it rises from TV limbo.

Camping (HBO). It's been almost two years since this Jennifer Garner flop, and I don't remember any official word on its cancellation, just that it was obvious that people didn't like it, and that Jennifer Garner deserves so much better for a television comeback. As for American Princess this one seems to have been canceled very quietly.

Claws (TNT). This summer surprise from 2017 was suppose to release its fourth season last June, but apparently the pandemic shut down production of the show, word is there is not a single episode shot. It is uncertain when will they go back to work or if they even go back to work. Niecy Nash agenda it's been a little bit busy this year appearing in small roles but in various shows. TNT had a hit this summer with Snowpiercer and this comes relevant as that series has already shot its second season. So maybe the pandemic had little to be blamed about the absence of this summer guilty pleasure.

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance (Netflix). We are short weeks away of getting to a year after this animated show was premiered on the streaming platform. No word yet if the show would be renewed, if its already in production its second season or if it is in fact dead. As of now the series is in TV limbo, most likely to be quietly canceled, the nature of its animation make it a show that takes time to be produced, so if in fact they haven't even ordered a second season if they do we would probably see it by the end of 2021 or spring 2022.

A Discovery Of Witches (Sky 1). Its been a year since the season finale of this British show. It was renewed for two more seasons that still not have an air date. As other shows that blame the pandemic I don't think it was the same case with this one. Sky might surprise us soon with a release date for this winter season.

Euphoria (HBO). This series took TV like a storm last summer, a total hit with great buzz, ignored by the Globes but recently nominated for some Emmys, including one for Zendaya. The complicated schedules of its cast, plus the pandemic might be the reason why there is still no word of when we would see a second season. That haven't even started production when the pandemic hit last February/March. Rumours has it there's still no script for a second season.

Feud (FX). This show its almost three years "old" and what promised to be another anthology series by Ryan Murphy now its seems it was quietly canceled. With Murphy moving to greener grounds over at Netflix it seems inevitable that his FX shows would fall one by one.

Jinn (Netflix Jordan). The first Jordanian series by the streaming giant hit the platform last summer and there is still no word, as with most of "international" shows, if this was renewed or in fact canceled. The series was interesting although with some production issues, overall a good weekend binge, specially if you're confined in your home. No word if this series is in fact in the afterlife or still in TV limbo.

Los Espookys (HBO Mexico). This Spanish language series created by SNL vets Julio Torres and Fred Armisen was released last summer and although the series was renewed for a second season there is still no word of when exactly that would happen. The series was surprisingly funny and it won me over from the very first episode, Torres proving to be the most charismatic expressionless actor I know.

Luis Miguel: The Series (Telemundo). This show took Latin audiences like a storm back in the spring of 2018, proving to be a very memeable series, after each episode fans had already memes in place from scenes of that weeks episode. Diego Boneta consolidated himself as a star after years of working his ass of in Hollywood. The series was renewed immediately after the first episode aired and proved to be an international hit. Now a second season seems to have been pushed to sometime in 2021. Three years after we saw the first one. I'm pretty sure some readers are just realizing that this one is in fact from Telemundo and not Netflix Mexico.

Mindhunter (Netflix). Its been exactly a year since we saw the second season of this thriller/drama from creator Joe Penhall, but we do have word from this one, to not expect a third season anytime soon, David Fincher said that as of now he was busy in another Netflix project and couldn't really commit to work on a third season of this hit show, putting it in TV limbo. Actors were released from their contracts and left open to look for other jobs.

Now Apocalypse (Starz). This very weird series by Gregg Araki, that got some cult following after its release in the spring of 2019, was quietly canceled, apparently, by Starz. This was the very definition of a niche series that probably was way too explicit for a cable network. It was actually fun to watch, but yeah weird would be the only word to describe it. But weird does not mean bad all the time. But maybe not mainstream enough as the network wanted.

The Mechanism (Netflix Brazil). This amazing Brazilian drama about the operation car wash, an ongoing investigation that discovered widespread corruption and money laundering from Brazilian government and several engineering firms. Second season was released a little over a year ago and there is still no word if the show was renewed or canceled, making it another international Netflix show in TV limbo.

The Orville (Hulu). Formerly at Fox this show was moved on to Hulu after the merging with Disney. The second season ended its run back in the spring of 2019. The third season is slated to premier now at the streaming platform sometime in the last months of 2020. Two years later of season 2 episode 1.

The Other Two (Comedy Central). Season 1 of this amazing comedy ended in the spring of 2019 as well as The Orville, it was released by the network but still the second season has no release date, only that it would be sometime around 2020, just a friendly reminder 2020 is about 5 months left of life (THANK GOD).

Paquita Salas (Netflix Spain). This web series that Netflix acquired after one season delivered us two not that good seasons at the streaming platform and a year later of the third one there is still no word about a fourth season, but it hasn't been officially canceled either. Are we keeping track of this international Netflix shows in limbo?

Pose (FX). Another hit from Ryan Murphy on FX that was hit hard by the pandemic, the third season of the show was slated to premier this summer as the other two seasons. But production was shut down when the pandemic hit earlier this year and as of now there is no date for the third season of this amazing show.

Queen America (Facebook Watch). More than a year ago the first season of this Catherine Zeta Jones lead series finished its run. While Sorry For Your Loss got a second season at Facebook, this show never got word of a second one or a cancelation. Catherine Zeta Jones deserves so much better than this.

Samantha! (Netflix Brazil). Yes this is a number two for the country. The second season was released over a year ago, there's still no word if this great comedy was renewed for a third season or if it was canceled. Brazil its one of the most prolific countries for Netflix, I won't lie to you but for me it seems they do produce a lot of content for the streaming platform.

The Society (Netflix). This show was released last summer and it was renewed for a second season, but there's still no release date for it, Time is clicking. Like most series Netflix might make an announcement soon about when to expect the second season in their platform.

Special (Netflix). Another niche series from the platform that was renewed for a second season, the first run was released more than a year ago and the second one was expected sometime this year that has been hell for every producer and basically the rest of the world.

Ultraman (Netflix Japan). Another great animated series released more than a year ago and there is still no word if the series was renewed for a second season or if it was canceled. Again with animated projects they do not come fast, so if Netflix decides to renew it we won't see a second season anytime soon. A fight for the rights of Ultraman was won by one of its designers after seven years of court battle in Tokyo, maybe this has something to do with the fact that Netflix hasn't made a decision abut the series.

What/If (Netflix). Also having a little bit over than a year is this series lead by Renée Zellweger and by the creator of Revenge Mike Kelley. This show was suppose to be an anthology series with different stories and cast with each season, but Netflix hasn't renewed nor cancel the series so far. Zellweger for me had an amazing comeback, but as much as with most of Ryan Murphy series, as the episodes went on the show became more weak and lost that punch of the first episode.

Young Justice (DC Universe). The streaming platform revived this Cartoon Network show, we are getting close to the one year anniversary of the season 3 finale, and there's still no word of when can we watch a season 4. The platform already gave us two simultaneous season of Harley Quinn that was amazing as well. But still no word if this show is renewed or cancel. With an uncertain future for the streaming platform as a whole with most of its shows moving into either HBO max or The CW. Harley Quinn, Titans and Young Justice are the three left titles for DC Universe. I'm afraid that we are going to suffer a second cancelation for this great show.

Younger (TV Land). Also having its year anniversary since the sixth season premiere is this amazing dramedy by Darren Star. True this show has never been very formal on its release dates, from season 2 to 3 they released them on the same year, first in January (its usual slot) and the 3rd in September. Then after the fourth season it became a June event in my TV. The show was renewed for a seventh season and was almost moved to the Paramount Channel, but in the end it stayed on TV Land and we still have no word as for when can we expect the seventh season. Hilary Duff was last year very busy working on the revival of Lizzie Maguire over at Disney+ which didn't came thru and when the pandemic hit the cast of this show wasn't even call in for production yet. We might just have to wait until June 2021 for this show to comeback to our lives.
