Much like Dark this series started strong. The first season really impressed me, for the second season the story started to get a little bit out of control, so I wasn't sad to know that the third season would be the last for the series.

Still looking for a cure for the disease and still experimenting with Rasmus (played by Lucas Lynnggaard Tønnesen) to try and obtain a cure for a disease that is living inside of him. Simone (played by Alba August) does not trust her little brother anymore and would part ways searching for a better place, only to discover that the disease is spreading far and beyond. She discovers a family living under the radar that seem to have found a cure for the disease, and for some reason don't want to share it.

The series got divided into two storylines, one following Simone and the other one following Rasmus. Simone's the one in charge of saving not only the world but the series itself. Rasmus storyline got out of control since season two, and for the third entry they keep complicating things for him, not only story wise, but in a way that diminishes the series making it hard to believe in the universe they created. None of this has anything to do with Lucas who gives a good performance, but his character becomes really hard to understand and goes from good to bad in matter of seconds with an emotional roller coaster ride worst that most of the confined people IRL. But sadly for Lucas his character ends up being a cheap bond villain in a really bad sci-fi film. They could have done so many things with the disease but the track they chose made it hard to handle and it ended up being a bad choice. Its also not a problem of the VFX, there is only one scene that I had a problem with them, right at the end of the series, but is not about the quality of them, but how they were used. Its great that they had the money and resources to have great VFX on their series, but VFX should always work in favor of the story and not change the story just so that you can showcase some VFX..

Simone's storyline has more heart and a more real feeling that keeps things afloat since the other half of the series goes from regular to bad fast. Alba has the same amount of charm as Lucas, but her character helped her shine all the way to the end of the series. Someone that even in the dark can see the light, but at the same time intelligent enough to know when to give up on someone, even her own brother.

The ending of the series kinda disappointed me, but they made things in a way that it would be hard to give it a good ending to the series, it kinda felt that while some characters did got their closing moment, the series as a whole didn't felt like a closure for it. Yes it was also meant to be an open ending, a beginning of a world after the rain, but still felt sort of an easy way out.

Overall if you don't have much to watch you can finish this Danish series, the third season is only six episodes long which makes it easier to digest, before you get bored the series is already on its last episode.
