Love 101 (Netflix Turkey) S01: B+

One of the amazing things from streaming services, just like Netflix, is the opportunity to watch series, movies and documentaries from all over the world. I don't know about you but I love giving the opportunity to "international" content.
I do watch The Protector also from Netflix Turkey, so when I saw that this series was also from Turkey I immediately added to my "playlist" and was not disappointed by it.
Love 101 follows a group of problematic teenagers that are on the verge of getting expelled from their high school, but thanks to thanks to Burcu (played by Pinar Deniz) one of their teachers, that hasn't happened yet. Unfortunately for them she's the only one in the school staff that believe they could have a bright future. The principal is eagerly waiting for an opportunity to kick them out of his school. To make matters worse Burcu recently presented her resignation, because she would move from Istanbul, and the group of teenagers have to join forces into getting her to stay, without her knowing, so they can finish their education. The five students develop a plan to hook her up with another teacher so that maybe love would keep her around. We also have a glimpse to the future with an older Isik (played by Bade Iscil) reminiscing on the past, whatever happened to them after high school? well we would have to stick around and find out.
Not the smartest or original of stories, but the cast have good chemistry is fun an easy to watch with a very decent production. The background stories from each of the five friends are also compelling and invite you to keep watching till the end of their eight episodes first season. A cliffhanger in the end made me light up a candle so that Netflix renews this drama.
Unfortunately for us unless you are a "blockbuster" like Dark, Money Heist or Elite there is no way of knowing when most of the "international" series are renewed or canceled. The Protector has run for three seasons, so I'm confident that this one will be back for a second one.
Expand your horizons, watch this series from other countries to learn a little bit of their culture, their lifestyle, fashion and music choices. You might get a pleasant surprise.
