Hakan's final adventure as the protector. Played by Çagatay Ulusoy this Turkish series comes to an end, a long road has come our hero to his final battle against the Faysal (played by Okan Yalabik) who spread an inmortality virus across Istanbul creating mayhem and chaos across the city, now that it's people don't fear any harm happening to them, and think they don't need no more a protector.
With whats left of his order Hakan must find a way to stop Faysal from spreading his dominion outside from the city. They must find a magical talisman that can help him, but by channeling the first protector. The only chance they have to save the present and future of Turkey and the world, is by changing the past.
This was a very good story, the first I saw from Turkey, and as much as Hakan the series also evolved throughout its four season run, they perfected the choreography of the battles and persecution scenes, they didn't use much VFX I suppose to keep the budget on track, but that didn't diminish the series in any way, and the scenes needing that were very well done.
Also the music was another plus from this series, their more traditional sounds and some electronic and pop hits from today. This is what I love from this shows from different parts of the world, I got a little taste of the music they dance in Turkey, how electronic music is being influenced by their traditional sound mixing great new tracks.
Created by Binnur Karaevil this first Turkish Netflix production comes to an end, and I'll wait for her creator to bring us something new to this or other platforms. She showed us that not only the US have the power to save the world. I would have loved much more fantasy put into this, to really transport us into the Turkish mythology. But I understand the challenges that it would have meant. Still she did an amazing job telling us a compelling story in just four seasons, without the show feeling too long or too short.
The series had this balance between an action series and a fantasy one creating a compelling world around this line of protectors that would defend the world from the immortals seeking domination. The only down side of the series was the wig and mustache that Hakan has on the flashbacks, it looked pretty bad, other than that those flashback did worked and helped push the mythology of the series, as in the first seasons we were in present day.
As in other series, this show also paid homage to its origins in this last season, making us remember how everything started back in season one. Çagatay Ulusoy evolved as an actor, he might not be a buzz worthy actor, but he did evolve and he improved his acting skills along with the series run, also his battle and action scenes looked much more better as the series went on. My hopes for him and Hazar Ergüçlü who played Zeynep, is that Netflix finds a way to export them into series from other countries if they don't find another Turkish series soon. After all Netflix already has this sort of universe and they have casted actors in other original productions from them.
If you like action series you should be watching this exciting series.
