For a comedy to work it needs to be, well, funny. For a dramedy to work needs to have some sort of balance between the dramatic and more serious moments and the funny ones. This series is definitely not a dramedy, and is not funny. That simple.

I am not the biggest fan of Steve Carrell, but I have enjoyed some of his movies in the past. When I read about this project I was excited about it and expecting it to be one of this summer's "blockbusters" on Netflix.

Carrell and Greg Daniels created this awful and at times painful to watch series. I recently praised Daniels work on Amazon's Upload. But there is nothing here remotely funny or good. Even though has not only Steve Carrell, but also Lisa Kudrow, John Malkovich, special appearances by Jane Lynch, the late Fred Willard, Patrick Warburton, to name just a few.

But all of the scenes with these actors with special appearances where cringeworthy, with jokes that were not fun at all, with situations that were suppose to be funny but they weren't.

Steve Carrell plays General Mark R. Naird who is in charge of the Space Force program and its looking for more government funds to take astronauts into space. Of course there are some challenges that he has to face before the rocket's launch. A series of unfortunate events that he somehow overcomes that are ridiculous and are suppose to be funny, including some sort of paintball / laser tag game, competing against General Kick Grabastone (played by Noah Emmerich) who believes he can do a much better job at the program than Naird.

The show has more downs than ups, some story lines could have worked better, but they just didn't. Like her daughter Erin (played by Diana Silvers) her story line was by far the most...entertaining... from this series. She has the more down to earth story here, she struggles between a workaholic father and her mother being in jail, her Russian boyfriend that might have other reasons for dating her. She is funny with a character with some depth. I really liked her, she is the best part of this series.

Also the brief moments with Maggie Naird (played by Lisa Kudrow) are somehow the less boring ones from the show.

John Malkovich, he did a great job but his scenes just don't work very well. I honestly don't know how or why is Malkovich in this project.

From Carrell what can I say? he is his usual self, but there is just something not funny about the script, is not ridiculous enough to be like Angie Tribeca, or some of his other work. He doesn't do a bad job here as an actor, the problem is entirely on the script, it was such a waste of resources, other outlets also gave a pretty bad score to this one. I will be surprised if the series gets a second season, and if it does I hope they do a much better job on the story.

If you still haven't see it, please don't. There are so many better things to do or watch than enduring the 10 episodes of this show.
