Jack Morton (played by Jake Manley) and his group of werewolves, are having some memory problems. He's having frequent nightmares, those nightmares are in fact his old memories, that were erased by Alyssa (played by Sarah Grey) at the end of season 1. They soon recover their memories to help the order find who is practicing illegal magic and trying to bring two covens to war. This third coven looks to bring magic to the general public, something that might not be such a great idea and they threaten to completely eliminate the order of the blue rose.

In all honesty I thought this series would not be renewed, but somehow it did. The first season wasn't that good or a massive hit, so I suppose is not that expensive to produce. Still again I would be surprised if they renew this for a third season.

I don't remember the tone of the first season, but this second one has serious issues finding its tone, the series relies a lot on comedy, with Randall and Hamish (played by Adam DiMarco and Thomas Elm), is not uncommon to have characters that serve as comedy relief, but then Jack or Alyssa would have funny moments that are just plain ridiculous considering they are not, the well, established comedy relief characters, and the series is not a comedy. Also we have two cameo appearances at almost the end of the season that belong completely to a satire and not a fantasy thriller. They also left the horror for more of a supernatural thriller. But with those less serious moments I got confused about how serious to take this second season. The stakes seemed to be higher in terms of the threat they had upon them. But the lack of maturity of the characters to face this problems broke any kind of spell the series could put on me.

Something that they did achieve was a steady pace, every single episode whose title ended on "Part. 1" was bad and the better ones were the "Part. 2". The 10 episodes are divided in two part titles. But the series never got better as we headed towards the end. Maybe if they decide to make this more of a comedy and better define the tone of the series I could get more on board. But I would be surprised if they get the order for a third season.

Grand Magus Vera Stone (played by Katharine Isabelle) is one of the few characters that I enjoyed, there is an evolution of her character now that she is Grand Magus she understands better the responsibility that the job title brings with it. She still has a complicated relationship with Jack, but as that one gets stronger, her relationship with Alyssa gets fractured.

Alyssa is a character that I disliked for the whole second season, maybe is meant to be that way, but her stubbornness and that power to always feel like the victim got me tired, and all season I was just wishing she would get killed. Sarah Grey is a charismatic actress but her character got an awful story arc for this second season and I never backed up any of her decisions.

Even though Jake Manley plays Jack, one of the title characters in the story his presence in this second season seems very forced. They still keep telling you that there is something very special about him, that makes him different and more powerful than other werewolves, but I just don't see it. In this second season he doesn't show any special abilities or intellect that would make him different or in any way better than the other werewolves we know. Since season 1 they kept telling us how special he was, but two seasons in The Order and I still don't see it.

This is a Sunday binge watch after a night of partying and that you are just to tired to get up the bed and just keep telling yourself that you would not drink again, and fall asleep at times, waking up with this series still running in the background.
