The Flash (CW) S06: B+

There's a lot of trouble coming for Barry Allen (played by Grant Gustin). And I don't mean only for the new villains that appear left and right in Central City. But in the writer's room as well.
The Flash after being one of the most solid and entertaining of the Arrowverse, last season probably came in second place after Supergirl took over the spot. But for its sixth entry the series entered in slow waters, much like what happened to Arrow after season four. And most of its episodes where meaningless and just season fillers. Even though they decided to divide the season in two parts, before and after the crisis. The first half of the season before the crossover event, started good then it was just meaningless. It got to a point where I said "if they say the word crisis one more time I swear to God!". I just kept rolling my eyes on the few episodes before the big event. Also the big bad, wasn't that interesting. Dr. Ramsey Rosso (played by Sendhil Ramamurthy) a.k.a. Bloodwork, who's looking for a cure for HLH using dark matter, and when tested on himself gives him special abilities that quickly takes him out of control. But there was just something so boring about this and at the same time that had nothing to do with the coming crisis, which we were promised would affect all seasons and not be just a story of the crossover. So stakes where pretty high specially for The Flash since Barry Allen was meant to die. The crisis was absolutely amazing, and as a fan my opinion is very bias about it. But after it the series came back again to that dull lake of boredom, they took their time into building the story for our next big bad the new version after crisis of Mirror Master. And the series did improved, Mirror Master was a much better villain and it took Iris (played by Candice Patton) to the center stage of the series, giving Barry Allen a little bit of a break.
And this is probably what had been missing in the series, build up the collateral characters, so that all of the adventures are not always a Flash centric thing, even though the show is called The Flash. Candice gave us a terrific performance, as well as Grant, and by the last three episodes they reminded us why we love the series so much.
This pandemic should put on the table once again the possibility of reducing the amount of episodes each season, I've been wanting that all of the series shrink to 10 to 13 episodes per season. In order to have a better quality in the stories and yes even in the production. Also if they wish to continue the expansion to more shows into the Arrowverse, less episodes would mean less saturation to the audiences.
I was probably too good to the season by giving them a B+, it should have been a lower grade, but again, I'm bias cause I'm such a fan. But they do need to consider a lot of things so that actors don't start jumping ship next season, just like what happened with Arrow. The series is obviously renewed for a 7th season and it look like the crossover event won't be coming until 2021, and another important note Flash won't be taking a mayor role in it. It looks like it would be an event to grow two of their new series Batwoman and Superman & Lois.
Any thoughts on The Flash or the Arrowverse?
